Criminal Record Checks:

All volunteers 19 years and over must  fill in an RCMP criminal record check (every year) so they can work with children. You must take the form yourself, with ID, to the RCMP office in Penticton, Summerland, or Oliver.

  • A Children’s Festival T shirt

  • Free Access to the Festival grounds
  • Free Access to Mainstage Shows (Tent 1 & 2) during breaks (as available by rush seating)
  • Volunteer BBQ and Preview Show

  • Wed., May 23, 6:00 pm: Volunteer Orientation Meeting/BBQ/Preview Show in Tent 1 (Ok Lake Park Festival Grounds)
  • Thurs.,  May 24, 9 am- 3:30 pm: Site Open to the Public
  • Fri., May 25, 9 am-3:30 pm: Site Open to the Public
  • Fri., May 25, 7-9 pm: Vaudeville Show (Cleland Theatre)
  • Sat., May 26, 9 am-5 pm: Site Open to the Public
  • Sat., May 26, 5pm-10pm: Site Take-down
  • Sun., May 27: Site Take-down

Volunteer Etiquette:

  • Wear your t-shirt.
  • Be neatly attired.
  • Arrive at least 15 min before your shift.
  • Sign in at the Volunteer Lounge. Check for your location and team leader.
  • No smoking on the festival site.
  • Attitude is everything! A positive and friendly attitude by all our volunteers towards all our guests and fellow volunteers will give a great feel to the whole festival.

Volunteer Orientation:

All volunteers and team leaders should attend the volunteer orientation meeting, at Tent 1 in the Festival Grounds, Wednesday, May 23, at 6:00.

  • General instructions for volunteers and organization of the festival will be discussed.

Volunteer Shifts:

  • Mon., May 21  Set-up 10am-4pm
  • Tues., May 22   Set-up 10am-4pm
  • Wed., May 23  Set Up 10am – 4 pm
  • Thu., May 24    9am-12:30pm     12pm-3:30pm
  • Fri., May 25      9am-12:30pm     12pm-3:30pm
  • Fri., May 25      Vaudeville Show 6 pm-9pm
  • Sat., May 26    9am-2pm     1:30pm-5pm
  • Sat., May 26    Take Down 5pm – 9pm
  • Sun., May 27   Take Down 8am-12pm

**Volunteers are encouraged to work the entire day.

Site Cleanup:

Please keep the Site clean at all times, and all volunteers should help with a complete cleanup of their area at the end of the festival.

Volunteer Lounge:

A Volunteer Lounge has been set up for you in the Art Gallery Project Room . This is where you will sign in for your shift, get fed, and relax.  It is not secure, so do not leave any valuables in the lounge. The ROICF does not take any responsibility for lost or stolen items. Please keep the Volunteer Lounge clean & tidy. In order to reduce waste, we recommend all volunteers bring reusable water bottles–there will be water coolers available in the Volunteer Lounge.

Event Security And First Aid:

Security and First Aid will be on site at all times. If you are confronted with an issue, please consult your Team Leader, Security or First Aid.
